RugMark Announces Raffle Winner!

Thank you for generously supporting RugMark’s Annual Rug Raffle. The winning ticket, drawn at Rugmark’s Holiday Party Wednesday evening, belonged to Denise Hamler of Cottage City, Maryland.

Denise  has dedicated her career to building a just and sustainable world for over 25 years, and currently serves as the Director of Co-Op America’s Green Business Network and Green Festivals as well as on RugMark’s Board of Directors. She has been a strong supporter of children’s rights and our mission since 1997. Denise remarked: “it is such a pleasure to have been with RugMark since its inception and seeing the growth of the organization has been very inspiring”.  She wants to thank all of the supporters who contributed to making this a successful fundraising season, and extends a special thank you to Creative Matters for their donation and commitment to developing the demand for child-labor-free rugs. Denise has the perfect place for Hariti: she has been planning to redecorate her living room and will decide on a new color scheme once she receives the rug.

Although there was only one winning ticket, the collective contributions of RugMark’s friends and supporters helped raise over $11,000! These funds go directly toward The Most Beautiful Rug: RugMark’s campaign to end child labor in South Asia’s carpet industry.  Thank you again for helping us ensure that childhood is not a luxury item.

RugMark is especially grateful to Donna Hastings and Carol Sebert of Creative Matters – who donated the beautiful Hariti rug and worked tirelessly to promote the raffle. (Hariti was unveiled at the Creative Matters 20th Anniversary gala and Faces of Freedom event November 12-15 in Toronto. View the complete Hariti blog here.) Our success this year would not have been possible without them!
