Sacco Carpets is a five-year-old company, serving interior designers of New York with products made on five continents. Sacco insists on the RugMark Label, knowing that it represents a serious effort to improve the lives of many people.

Company FounderMarc Sacco has traveled the world to all the major rug weaving centers and has seen the working conditions and the problems of weavers in third world countries. It is one thing to prevent children from weaving rugs--it is quite another to fund education programs for these children and return money to their communities for their protection. This sets RugMark apart, and Sacco Carpet is very happy to be part of this organization.

Marc worked in the carpet industry in South Africa and for a successful uptown company in New York during the 15 years before he started Sacco Carpet in SOHO in 2001. The aim was to serve the interior designer in America with a superior product, using today’s technology to smooth out the difficult stages associated with custom work. Today Sacco Carpet is a major supplier to the high-end commercial market as well as a known source for superior hand-knotted silks and wools to a very select residential cliental.

Sacco Carpet looks to create employment for as many people as possible. Rugs from the South African midlands, an area where the incidence of AIDS is over 40 percent and where six of our 10 weavers are HIV-positive, help to provide AZT drugs.

Sacco never makes an inferior product. The company always strives to be honest with both manufacturers and designers, and it employs a talented young group of energetic young people who enjoy their jobs.

Most Sacco rugs are developed as custom orders for the top New York designers, including Charlotte Moss, John Saladino, Adam Tihany, Scott Sanders, Joe Nahem and Vincent Smith Durham. But production is now shifting as more and more people see Saco as a general supplier of exceptional handmade, quality carpets.
