Delinear Inc. is a San Francisco-based manufacturer of modern hand-knotted rugs. Chris Baisa, the company’s founder, launched his rug division after 15 years of successful home furnishing design. To align production standards in Nepal with his personal values, Chris joined RugMark as a way to ensure that no child labor was used in the production of his fine designs.
Chris has long been inspired and driven by the history, philosophies and processes involved in design. For 15 years he produced hand crafted home furnishings under the Delinear name for retail stores and private clients. With an intense love of modern design and a desire to create new designs true to the ideals of the past, Chris founded Delinear in 1995.
Under the Delinear name, Chris has designed several past furniture collections for Mike Furniture Store; the “On Land” collection of hand-knotted Tibetan rugs for elson & company; the “Toledo” lighting collection for Seascape; the Moran dining table and bench for the LIMN Design Collection; and the now-classic “Gridloc” table design for Pure Design of Canada.
The spring of 2003 marked the launch of the Delinear hand-knotted rug collection, designed by Chris. The entire collection reflects the same devotion to timeless modern aesthetics, attention to detail and classic beauty. The inspiration of the Delinear collection is drawn from modern architecture and modern art. With this in mind, the goal is to create great, timeless modern rug designs that work in a variety of settings and environments.
Articles about Chris have appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, the San Francisco Examiner, Dwell Magazine and Taschen’s California Interiors. His “Gridloc” table is featured in the San Francisco MOMA and his “Passage” rug design was named one of the 20 best designs of 2000 by Interior Design Magazine.
